SHOUT OUT

I am fore-going the typical post of telling you everything I did during my week vacation in Utah for Christmas, because I'm sure the details will be slightly less thrilling to you than they were to me, so here is a different attempt. These are the top 10 people I ADORE after this holiday season. There are many more than this and I love you all...enjoy the new year.

#1 - My dear friend Penny Allen who lent me a breast pump on the spot at 8:00 am the Saturday after Christmas so I could relieve my chest because Sadie got the stomach flu and didn't eat for 3 days...we are now officially over it...10 days later.

#2 - No picture to show, but the photographer at Target who believed me when I said Claire would do better without me in the room, and in 10 minutes got the most DARLING pictures. But I didn't pay the money to get them e-mailed because I already did that for the bad ones...just believe me when I say they're cute! (I've decided I need a scanner now.)

#3 - Jared and Crystal Taylor, who are the most talented, creative, generous people I know. I called Crystal for help on how to create a magnet/bulletin board for my kitchen wall; and those darlings just went ahead and did it for me...paint and all. You guys are the best! I hung it today and it looks awesome!

#4 - My big sister Erin and my parents, who decided that 10 years was long enough for me to go without a drill. Thanks to both of them for getting us one for Christmas...two is better than none! This would not be an issue if I didn't have a husband who REFUSES to receive tools as gifts because "They're not fun." Anyway, the magnet board went up quick as a wink because of my new drill....love you!

#5 - My dear hubby Dave who gave me this very cool quilt stand for Christmas. I've been wanting one for ages, because I have several homemade quilts that need to be shown. For now, I put up the quilt Dave's Grandma Anderson gave us for our wedding, and the Memory Quilt my mom made for me last year for Christmas.

#6 - Speaking of quilts, I received the BEST one last year from my sister Kelly for Christmas. This is a completed Bodily Family Quilt that she lovingly put together for me. It was one of the best Christmases ever, and it is proudly displayed on my bed.

#7 - The artist Chad Hawkins. I love his temple pictures, and I decided to give a color print of the Nauvoo temple to my brother Jonathan for Christmas. When I called his studio to purchase the print, I spoke with him directly and he was nice enough to let me come and pick up the size I wanted from his home in Fruit Heights. And he even autographed the print for me! He was extremely nice and thoughtful, and I'm glad it worked out for my gift.
#8 - This should be 3, but I'm condensing, so this is for Jen, Heidi and Elisa for indulging me with a MUCH NEEDED lunch out with my gals. Thanks for taking the time and for sharing all the yummy food. I miss you guys more than you know, and I hope you are ready for a lifetime of me calling and saying, "I'm in town...let's get together NOW!"

#9 - My sweet kids: Davis, Claire and Sadie. Thanks for making Christmas so much fun...children really are the best part of Christmas.

#10 - My brother Ryan and his wife Lauren for their cool Christmas surprise of announcing they are having a baby boy in June....Yay! I'm so excited to see what a new breed of Vellinga cousins will look like....congrats!

What an awesome post!! I love th idea. I might just have to do that on mine, since I realized today that we took a total of 3 pictures for Christmas, oops!
You are so thoughtful to put the magnet/cork board as one of your top 10. You have done so much for me and are such an awesome friend, that is was no big deal. I love how it turned out! Hope to see you again.

That's a fun way to post about Christmas! And I think that is hilarious about the drill. Andy would die for tools every chance he could get - birthday, Christmas, President's Day... We have at least 5 drills around here. :) And I looooove your bulletin board! I am going to have to make one now.

Mani, I would be one of the people who would be just as thrilled as you to hear what you did for Christmas. :) Cuz, you know, I'm nosey and love hearing that stuff. It was so good to see you and I can't wait for the snow to STOP so we can start making trips up there again and have them actually happen. Love ya babe!

Love you too! It was great to get a "Cox-fix" while you guys were here. Mia still talks about Claire constantly. Thanks for being the friend I can talk to about ANYTHING--and I mean anything :).
