Twas the Week before Christmas...

and all through our house were these goings on, loud enough to scare every mouse!

Happy 4th Birthday Claire!

She received many little things that she's just been DYING for, like....the pink sparkly shoes that she has tried on in every store since she was 18 months old and I could never justify buying. Until I found them for $1 at a yard sale this summer. Wahoo!

Grandma and Grandpa Vellinga sent her the new Tinkerbell movie, joy and rapture!

Everything about Claire is princess and dress-up, so here comes your crown, Claire! Notice by this picture, she has tried out her princess makeup/lipstick. Beeyootiful.

Earlier in the day, I took Claire and her two best friends, Emma and Jorja, to see "The Princess and the Frog." I was a little nervous how they would do, but they were so good. They sat there enthralled the whole time. And every time a song started, Claire was dancing in her seat. I had to tell her to sit down a couple of times because she wanted to dance down the row. It was really cute to watch them; I'm just sad I didn't get a picture! WE LOVE YOU, CLAIRE!

Last night was my piano recital for my students. And guess who was the first performer....Davis! It has been lots of fun (and lots of tears) teaching him piano this year. I decided to teach him myself until it turned really ugly and then I'd find him his own teacher. The first few months were rocky, but we've found our groove. And he's really good. For the recital, he played "The Chipmunk Christmas Song"....you know, "Christmas, Christmas, time is here..." I was more nervous than he was, but he was such a performer. He played perfectly and did his momma proud. The rest of my students were just as good. It was probably the best recital I've had. No major catastrophes of forgetfulness.
