Tribute to......

This great game that was introduced to us by Dave's sister Melissa and her husband Tom. This is the perfect combo of strategy and luck, not too long, not too short, and made our week in Utah lots of fun. Love you Jonny and Marissa and Kristen; thanks for ALL the games and memories. And a big THANKS to Tom and Melissa for letting us borrow it. Anyone who finds this game for around $30, let me know!

Also, I need to pay tribute to my mother. Thanks for putting up with us for a week, for all the laundry and meals and toy messes and movies. But mostly, thanks for the longest, hardest laugh I've had in months. I hope I do this justice.

Dave, our kids, my mom, Kristen, and I were all in the van driving home from Grandma Bodily's house. We decided to stop at Albertson's for hamburger buns. My mom was up in the front seat by Dave; he drops her off at the door and we park to sit and wait. After a few minutes, she comes out of the store. Dave starts down the parking aisle to pick her up, but we're stopped by a car backing out of it's spot. He honks at my mom to let her know we're there. Then we see my mom walk around the car backing up and head to the next row over. After a few seconds, we realize she is heading to another silver van, with it's engine running. We watch as she gets closer and we're chuckling, wondering how long it will take for her to realize she's heading to the wrong car. Apparently, no time is enough, for we watch her open the front door, get in, sit down and close the door. Dave, Kristen and I stare in disbelief and then burst out laughing, wondering what must be happening in the van. After about 10 seconds, the door flies open and my mom falls out, laughing and apologizing to the poor man who she has just surprised out of his wits. What are the odds there is another dad in another silver van with kids watching a DVD in the back, just like us? She hobbles to our van, climbs in, and tries to explain while we're all laughing so hard we're almost peeing our pants. Apparently, she just climbed in and was looking forward when she heard a man say, "Well, Hello." Then she yelps, in only my mother's signature yelp, I'm sure, and turns to see a stranger. He then says, "Hmmm....you're not my wife." And then the apologizing and embarrassment began. I wish I'd had a camera to capture it, or at least the man's reaction inside his van. Too bad it was so dark, we couldn't see. It was PRICELESS. Love you Mom!

P.S. Jana and Jared and Ryan, this is the kind of stuff you missed over Christmas. Missed you!!

We got that game for Jared's parents for Christmas. We found it online for about $35. We absolutely LOVE it. We stayed up way to late playing on New Year's Eve.

I am sitting here in the dark laughing. Mostly because of your mom, but a little because I did the exact same thing this summer. I think it is those dang silver vans!

We love that game, too! The Staleys introduced us to it and Ryan is always and forever looking for expansion sets online.

Also loved the story of your mom--gave me a good laugh on a bad day. Thanks :).
