I have thoroughly enjoyed reading everyone's blogs lately, but I realize I have not posted anything since December. As I try to think about what I may have missed, I am coming up with a whole lot of nothing. Hence, January and February, a whole lot of nothing. So I am going to attempt to capture my thoughts for the last few hours...this is a lame, I know. I guess this is where blogging becomes a little self-centered.
- I don't like sick kids. Sadie has been running a fever for 4 days, and it's just sad.
- Claire has the weirdest stomach...she threw up this morning for no good reason, and has been eating and drinking fine since. All it does is get us in a panic. Hope it doesn't last.
- Dave and I attended our first meeting for our Stake Pioneer Trek last night. That's right; we're doing it again. The experience that brought us together 13 years ago (Whoa, that's a long time) will be repeated. This time we'll actually be Ma and Pa of the same family, nice! It should be fun, I'm actually really looking forward to it. Remind me of this about 3 weeks before when I'm sure I'll be crazy trying to get ready for it.
- I watched the Super Bowl last night....and I did not get struck by lightning. I kinda wish I had, so I could guarantee Dave wouldn't ever ask to watch again. But it turns out, when you're away from all your family, and you have 9:00 church, and your husband hasn't turned on a football game on Sunday all year, it's pretty okay. My favorite part was Davis cheering for the Saints, then the Colts cuz they were winning, then the Saints cuz I was, then the Colts cuz Dad was, and then the Saints cuz they won.
- I REALLY hope that it works for me and Jen and Heidi to go to Vermont/Boston/Canada/wherever this fall to see Hailey. It will be SO fun to have a long girls weekend.
- My teeth feel weird because I just had two cavities filled. Yuck. Even more lame that they were in between the teeth, where the dentist pointed out bluntly, "These would have totally been avoided had you been flossing." Gee, thanks.
- I love watching The Biggest Loser, and my children are addicted now as well. We all have our favorites we're cheering for. Davis just likes watching the challenges. I keep thinking it will motivate me to lose those LAST 5 POUNDS, and it does, but not enough to get me out into freezing winter air for running, so then I figure, "well, I didn't run, so let's write off the whole day and eat a bunch of junk." Great logic, huh.
- I am currently reading the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, and I'm enjoying it a little more with each book. I like that they're shorter, so I can get through them quicker. Of course, I'm also re-reading Harry Potter in between because it's made me nostalgic for Harry Potter books. Can I just say how much I love Fred and George and Ron?
- Sometimes I really dislike living in such a small town. And then sometimes I love it. Like when I went to the grocery store to buy some food for our Cub Scout Blue and Gold Banquet and they didn't have ground beef at a reduced price, so I was asking the butcher when I could come back and hopefully find some more, and she said, "Oh, just give me your name and number and I'll just save everything this week and call you when I have as much as you need." Are you kidding? What kindness! It gets better. I have been trying to snag the movie "Julie and Julia" from the library, but it's been checked out every time I've gone in the last few weeks. I showed up Friday, and as soon as I walked through the door, the librarian calls out, "Mary Ann! Guess what; I've been saving your movie you wanted. It came in about 5 days ago and I knew you'd been waiting, so I put it aside until we saw you again." I never reserved it or anything, she just did it out of thoughtfulness. And really, every business in this town is like that. I just wish there were MORE of them.
- My taxes are done....Yippee! I should reject the biggest refund we've ever gotten because it's based on Obama's crappy bailout, finance plans that are one more reason I don't like him. But I'm going to temporarily forget my values/scruples/principles and enjoy the refund. What does that say about me, really. Nothing good.
I wish everyone out there a lovely Valentine's Day and I wish I could see you all and talk to you much more often. Keep blogging for me.
