Turkey, 30 and more

I just spent a week down in Utah with the kids (and Dave for a couple of the days)...but now that I go to post I realize I took no pictures. Fabulous. So I'll have to improv. I was going down to see Celine Dion, but the nerd got sick and cancelled her concert in Salt Lake; that's the second time that has happened to me! Since she rescheduled for a Sunday, we decided to pocket the money.

So I spent my money on the Twilight movie (VERY DISAPPOINTING if you're a fan of the book) and clothes to cover the baby pounds that just won't go away...sigh.
On Saturday, we had a huge get-together with my family because my brother Jonathan was here from Michigan, I was there from Idaho, and my aunt Kari was here from California. It was lots of fun to see everyone.

And it was my birthday...the big 30.

I'm still not exactly sure why I'm having such a hard time with this milestone. I have 3 children, a home, a busy life, etc...this should not come as a surprise. But I guess it's because I still feel 21 0r 22, and it's scary that my body is that much older than I feel. Also, the ladies that were 30 when I was a kid looked SO OLD. Do I really look that out-of-touch now? Oh well...I'm sure by my next birthday, I'll be used to it. We also had the opportunity to see the BYU football team go down in flames to the UTES....bummer.

Later in the week, it was off to the stores that I don't have in Pocatello. How do you do Christmas without Toys R Us? And then I was crazy enough to get all the kids' pictures taken at Target. Davis and Sadie did really well, but Claire was in A MOOD..I didn't even buy any of hers. I'll just have to try again at Christmas.
In between all these adventures, we spent lots of time visiting with our friends we miss. We played with Will and Sarah Maughan, Mia & Penny Allen, Jen and the Oleson kids, Heidi and the Hatch kids....cousins and more cousins. And Crystal, I STILL haven't seen you and the cute baby. I somehow missed your path at church. Christmas, one more shot!

Wednesday, Dave made it down to Utah and he took me to lunch for my (late) birthday. Ahh, Cafe Rio....how I miss you.

Thursday, of course, I stuffed myself silly with all of Dave's family for Thanksgiving. What a meal...everything was delicious.

Friday morning, I begged my Dad to try and get a Pre-lit Christmas tree at Home Depot for only $50. So he took off at 5:30 with my brother, Ryan, in hopes of the steal of the century. Alas, the ladies in front of them got the last ones. Name of the game, right? We'll have to try online next year; I had no idea stores were offering their Black Friday deals online Thanksgiving day. That would save some sleep Friday morning.

My last adventure was lunch with my mom, Grandma Bodily, and Kari for my birthday. I have never been to Mimi's; it was really good. But let's just say I rolled into my van for the drive back to Idaho. I must have gained at least 5 pounds this week...I don't dare verify that on the scale.

Probably the best part of a week at home is all the visiting and catching up and silly conversations and late-night movies at my mother's house with my parents and siblings. I miss you all and love you more. Thanks for taking such good care of me and my family!

I am still extrememyly sorry I was a complete moron and missed breakfast. I owe you one big time. I will have to get some scones to go and bring you some.

Mimi's has great food. I always roll out of that place also.

Mary Ann, I'm so sorry I missed you this past week. I saw you from a distance at church, but then I had to go feed Mason and you know things are just a little crazy. We headed to Duchesne on Wednesday and got back late last night (Sunday).Happy Birthday! I thought of you. Maybe next time you come we can finally get together and chat. Sounds like you had a great time while you were here.

I liked your improv. I know what you mean about getting older. I still feel like I'm 22 as well. It's good to hear so much about your family.
