What I Miss About Ut-aho

After 10 days in Utah for a fabulous summer vacation and wedding, I've decided I can now write a list of things I miss about Idaho when I'm in Utah. Who thought this day would ever come? Certainly not me.

Things I missed about Idaho:

1- Lunch in the Park. What a great break in the day to get free lunch and visit and play with our neighbors.

2 - Card Club and Book Club. Card Club is lots of fun when you have a professional Melissa that comes up with amazing new ways to make cards. Why do you think all the birthday cards I send are so dang cute? I can't take one ounce of credit. And Book Club has always been a favorite thing for me. Reading and talking...we know I don't have a problem doing either of those. Although, I still miss my Utah Relief Society Book Club. Good times. But Goodreads has helped that along cuz I can see what everyone down there is reading and what they think. HAIL, GOODREADS!

3 - Cool Idaho nights. It is so lovely to open all the windows in the evening and have the house cool down so marvelously you don't need any kind of air conditioning. Plus the mornings are cool and breezy enough that my daily run is so pleasant. I went running twice in Utah and IMMEDIATELY remembered why I hate running in the summer in Utah. Even at 6:30, the sun was beasty.

4 - My lack of treats in my house so I am not tempted to ruin my diet. Because BOTH grandmas stock their house of goodies and I have no self-control. It sure was a tasty vacation.

5 - Not driving many places....this is a plus and a minus. The town is so small, every car ride is 5 minutes, very nice with 3 children. But this means there is not many places to go, which brings me to my Miss Utah List

Things I Miss about Utah

1 - Stores!!! I miss having a Target, Kohls, Walmart, Mall, movie theatre, Lowe's, Seagull Book, you name it only 10 minutes away. I got my shopping fix out of the way, but OH it made me miss the convenience of an urban sprawl.

2 - Swimming. Roy Aquatic Center, Clearfield Aquatic Center, Classic Waterslides, and my new favorite find, Bountiful Rec Center. Idaho doesn't get hot and calm enough many days for swimming, and there's only one outdoor place in Pocatello. Davis and Claire loved getting some swimming done.

3 - FAMILY. Grandparents, parents, cousins, siblings, aunts, uncles. It is so hard to be away sometimes. It was lots of fun to have my mom's sisters in town for Jonathan's wedding, and we were able to spend some good days playing with them. Swimming, Girls Night Out, Sunday dinners, baptisms, everything.

4 - The Temple Nearby. As we went to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House that is 5 minutes away from my sister Erin's house, I remembered how great it was to drive 15 minutes to the temple. I know I'm still very lucky to have one only 1 hour away, but again it comes to convenience with 3 small children. We have a goal to attend much more this next year than last year.

5 - My Long-time friends. Thanks for indulging me in a Slumber Party of sorts. Starting on hairdos at 2:00 am sure made me feel like a teenager. I loved it! I miss you all much.

I'm glad you are finding at least a few things to like about Idaho. We also love lunch in the park. There is one about a block from my house, which has been wonderful!
